BIOGRGAPHY:

Chuck obtained his LLM degree in taxation from McGeorge School of Law in May of 1982.  In June of 1982 he and his wife, Kathy, and their two sons, moved to The Dalles and Chuck joined the law firm now known as Dunn, Toole, Carter, and Coats, LLP.

For over 28 years Chuck’s law practice has emphasized the areas of tax and estate planning for families and family businesses, real estate law, and probate and trust administration. Chuck has extensive experience in providing tax and estate planning for farm and ranch families in the Mid-Columbia region.  As Chuck explains at his presentations on estate planning, a well-designed estate plan can avoid taxes, probate, family disputes, and unnecessary fees and costs.

In addition to his legal practice, Chuck is involved in many community activities.    Chuck and local CPA, Ben Neumayer, are regular guests on the very popular Coffee Break Hour heard on The Dalles radio station, KODL, 1440 am.  Chuck and Ben usually appear on the first Wednesday of each month at about 10:15 a.m.  They provide helpful information on a wide variety of legal and financial matters and field questions from callers. Chuck especially enjoys the opportunity to make speaking appearances in the Mid-Columbia area on the topics of tax and estate planning. Chuck’s next presentation on estate planning will be at the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, May 12th, 2010, from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. You can view some of Chuck’s presentation handouts under ARTICLES AND PRESENATION MATERIALS below.

Chuck’s passions, other than his law practice, are golf, bike riding, and most of all, spending time with his wife, Kathy, and their four grandchildren.
